Well, I managed to throw myself into the party promotion game heavy this year [Broke $ BouJee is almost a year old 1/2008] , even though I dabbled in it back in 2005/2006, I only saw it as an opportunity to use it as a spring board this year. Many times I heard this from “random” folks…“Who is a Fadia Kader to start throwing parties…?!”or my personal favorite ,

“I mean, what do you do.. can you pick what you want to do, is it styling, party promoter, event planner, marketing, branding, music industry beast, PROTON manager, tee-shirt designer, lifestyle consultant, creative consultant, barber [ I joke.. ] …?!”

Why in the hell are you worried about what I’m doing?! If I want to dabble in all the stuff mentioned above thats for me to do. If I’m good at it, thats even better for me and it sucks for you. And if I suck at it, best believe I’m the first to keep it moving. So, why in the heavens do you find the need to constantly question what it is I’m doing, why I do it or how I do it.

I would hate to bust out with my resume on your ass, but I have worked with companies such as Saks 5th Ave [PR/Event Department] , Roca-Wear [Product Placement], Def Jam South [Marketing /Promotions], The Britto Agency [ Senior Event Designer] , COACH [ Visual Merchandising] , P.Valentine Boutique [Creative Director] ,and styled/consulted countless influential people and entertainers. Guess what though, Its not for you to know, its for the person that’s writing my check or negotiating my salary to know.[ OH, and I worked second jobs at Gladys Knight , Victoria Secrets, Sold shit on Ebay, and worked at the Hyatt…while I went to school .. so hard work is NOTHING for me.]

My resume is BEASTLY, and I’m not one to really put my experiences out there like that [ if I did, those “Random” folks would not be questioning my work experience and why I’m justified for doing so many thing. I went for my Bachelors in Marketing, and an Associates in Fashion Merchandising.I did that for a reason.. its in my DNA to hustle some shit, to flip something, to challenge myself, to prove to those that question my ability that anything is possible.

My father was the ultimate hustler [Original Come Up Kid], after the occupation in Palestine, he was forced to leave all his real estate, his soccer career behind, his home that him and my grandfather built one brick at a time, his business… and migrate as a refugee with my mother and 6 kids [ I came 12 years later…classic “OH OH BABY”]. My father would walk to the ocean in Kuwait where he found refuge for his family, and boil the ocean water and sell it to construction workers, and at night he worked as a bus driver, he took care of his family, left my mother to tend to 6 kids, and built his home one brick at a time in Kuwait and started over…

My father started over to build an empire…. and it all started with Adidas, a random trip to Thailand, and a brand new company called “NIKE”

But.. its to be continued… The story that is.. I’m usually very guarded, and I move in silence, there are people that have known me for years, and don’t know my full family history or personal history.. that’s just me, but this is COME UP KIDS , where we talk about how we CAME UP, or trying to COME UP.. so your past is a huge factor in the person that you are molded into.. so I am making a conscious effort to share my story, to open up and admit my weaknesses, share my triumphs, allow you a glimpse into my world, in hopes that it will inspire you in some way , and perhaps you can inspire me in return..
