Regrdless of what your political view is, this is still a powerful woman, in an Islamic country which is extremely rare. I actually have seen her in D.C give a speech back some years, and she’s definatly an enigamtic figure. Regardless.. a life lost. R.I.P
Bhutto, 54, was leaving the rally in her bulletproof vehicle when she asked that the sunroof be opened so she could bid supporters farewell, aides who were with her said. She raised her torso through the hatch, and several gunshots rang out, an aide seated next to her said. Just as Bhutto sank into her seat, a large bomb detonated outside the vehicle. The left side of Bhutto’s face was badly bloodied, aides said, but it was not clear whether she’d been killed by bullets or by shrapnel from the bombing. She lost consciousness, and never regained it.
“Today there is no more Pakistan. The woman who has defended us has died,” said Sher Zaman as he beat his chest in mourning, crowding with hundreds of others into a narrow corridor outside the hospital room where Bhutto’s body lay. “I’m 70 years old, but today I feel like an orphan.”
Hours later, Bhutto’s body was carried out of the hospital in a plain wooden coffin.
Her husband and children arrived from Dubai and were accompanying her body to her ancestral home in the village of Garhi Khuda Baksh, near Larkana, where she will be buried near her father.

I thought of you when this happened. It’s so sad that it happened more upsetting that it happened to a woman who was doing what so many of us dream to do- make a difference and have our voices heard no matter what octave they are. Your beauty, strength, and loyalty are a part of your voice and history. The World should stop and take a second to appreciate what it can learn from the drive and dedication that is so often synonymous with Middle Eastern culture. I am so proud of you Fadia!
