They say that…
Supposedly it takes a new comer to the city approx 6-12 months before you can SEMI settle in the city… and believe you and me.. there have been times where I have wanted to pack all my shit depending on the day I would have left it all.. and go back to the A… Living in NYC is not easy.. it takes somewhat of a sadistic mind to live in this city.. unless your bank account is in the ——– digits, its never a comfertable living situation.. but needless to say… im at my 7 month mark.. and even thought from August on I spent the majority of my time in the A… Im still here.. and I am just now finding my niche..
A fellow peach that I met in the A back in my P.Valentine days and got reintroduced to at the last B$B hit me up and we have been communicating.. so out the blue she was like..”yo come out tonight.. chill shit”.. so I threw some clothes on, washed my hair and got it mov’n…
Went downtown to this spot called Manhatta.. and from the second I walked in.. it was like fresh air…. I found my scene/crowd/….I really do honestly wish I had a camera.. but Sabel and K took some pics so I will post em when I get em… but it was PURE good shit..Live art instillations.. friendly folks.. people dancing for a change [ I wish Atlanta would pick up on that] and I was with 2 chicks staright from the A too… LOVES IT…Sabel was the ultimate gracious escort.. introduced me to everyone.. Got to meet the Lovely Vashtie , and if you dont know her name I suggest you get familir.. sweet chick.. and definatly down tto earth.. cant beat that… grab some V/T’s only to get on the dance floor to see Crazy Legs [Rock Steady Crew] and Bobbito batteling it out … Good shit..
Stepped to Bobbito on some Atlanta and Kaos shit.. spoke … exchanged info.. and voila .. goin to his party next week..
Got the intros to a bunch of new folks and it felt great not to be in “work mode” .. just talking in the club with random people about the artist and the Basquiat influences, to the DJ fucking up and not mixing the music, to how damn strong the drinks are….to politics in the Middle East.. somewhere during the convo.. we found ourselves with prime seats to the ultimate b-boy challenge… until some chick rolled up and showed out and shut shit down…
Many.. im mad excited and happy about this city.. it was a matter of time before I found my way.. but Like Kaos said.. you just gotta dig harder and go thru the bullshit to get to the good shit..
Would write more but im getting mad sleepy… Tomorrow night.. goin to check out Klever in Brooklyn.. gotta support the ATL FOLKS..
