Introductions: Art, Beats and Lyrics
***Disclaimer: So this is a new section that I’m doing… kind of giving credit.. where credit is due…and praying that people stop whoring out all of our hard work and organic approach to our crafts…
Well.. before there was ever a Sloppy Seconds, Broke $ BouJee , a Good Life, Crew Love, Bang Bang Tribute Parties, or Art of Partying/Partake… there was “Cold Busted” and other “events” brought to you by Art Beats and Lyrics..
and who was the mastermind behind it??? JABARI GRAHAM [ I would link his myspace.. but its private.. typical]. A true Atlantan [ born and raised] that is creative and thinks outside the box [is it possible? lol]. But like many people that start a certain blueprint…. they never get the true credit and shine..
My thing is.. if you are attempting to bring Art+Music in the same event… best believe .. Mr.Graham has been on it for years… [ and hes the guy I did “The Goonies” movie screening.. and gonna be doing “Last Dragon” soon ]
Yes….everyone is quick to jump on this “movement” and “Scene” talk.. but my thing is.. do your homework.. there was a Hannibal before a Hannibal [but NOBODY does it like my Hannibal].. and his name was Zach Wolfe.. and even though you saw him at Sloppy “first” .. in all reality… Caleb found him at COLD BUSTED a year before…..and then Ian, Ree, and Caleb brought him [Zach] over to Sloppy Seconds.. and then Ian brought Hannibal over to Broke and BouJee.. and voila.. its all a revolving door….
I say this to say that … nothing any of us are doing is REVOLUTIONARY… but EVOLUTIONARY.. the dots have been connecting for years… its on us to take something and tweak it and make it our own… [i.e finding our own lane]
So when you see Mr.Graham… holler at the kid.. he can probably drop some valuable knowledge on ya [atleast on the event marketing,branding and creative things]… cause I know his opinion matters a ton to me.. [I went soft on you guys there]

it’s always good to see brothas doing their thing. in this case, biggups to jabari for bringing something unique to the Atl community. ABL was one of 1st events I actually wanted to attend when i 1st moved here…missed dem all (but heard about it thru the grapvine) so its good to know its making a come back (lol!). be on the lookout as this man has many blessings coming his way in ‘08. much respect!

Fadia, great post… not just because its about my boo! lol… but for real. as creative and ingenious as we all are, there are tools we can grow upon, resources we can utilize, and great networks in which we can build… so i hope all the dope comeupkids will continue to vibe with those who paved the way for them (in Jabari’s case… he can look at the Black Arts Movement), etc…

well before me it was Jason Orr (Funk Jazz), Jason Carter (Sol Fusion) to Freddie Luster + Richard Dunn (SugarHill), the whole GTM CREW, Jodine Dorsey (Jodine’s List) and more…all those folks i picked their brain and pulled coat tails…you know ill tell you a lil secret a way in “sorta” cheating life or experience is to simplity rap with older pple (not saying that pple mentioned above are old) or pple with experience…take what you need from them and push it out yourself…remember “there is nothing new under the sun…” thats in the bible….thx fadia
