It’s 1:12 AM in Atlanta and I’m up for almost no reason. My doctor might really classify me as an insomniac if I ever reported the lack of sleep as a problem. The only reason I haven’t really seen it as a problem yet is because I’m still a college student, and college students worldwide stay up all night. It’s kinda like a rites of passage.

I’m preparing for my voyage to California. I know, I know, I totally just made it sound like it was an exotic, distant land but to some it just might be so let’s just roll with it. I’m going to spend the next month in California speaking spanish, meeting friends at Jamba Juice, annoying my parents wallets, riding on the back of my brother’s chopper, ridin’roundshinin’ with my two best beezies, working, spending time with family and lushing up at the speakeasy (yes, there’s an actual speakeasy in SF, more on that later). I haven’t spent more than a week back at home in a whole year now (I can’t even believe that) so I’m really stoked about it. Though I did not know about Slick Rick on the 19th, so now I’m trying to hustle my way back to Atlanta briefly just for that; I LOVE me some Slick Rick.

In my trip preparation, I noticed that I have a really bad habit of giving my shoes their own suitcase. No matter where I go, there is always one suitcase for the clothes and another just for shoes. I probably should consult the Travelista about this. This probably stems from my never planning outfits in advance but I enjoy that small piece of spontaneity everyday. But the shoes just have to come. Never mind the fact that all of my retro Jordan’s (yes, I was an avid collector of Jordan’s in my high school years) and a wide array of Chuck’s are still at my house.

Another thing I noticed was that I have an obsession with dark colors. I’ve packed nothing to wear but black and grey and very dark denim. And a few fresh white tees. Maybe it’s a winter thing?

Anyway, I suggest everyone come out and watch The Goonies tomorrow (or later tonight). It’ll be my last night out in the A (until Slick Rick or until next year) so come chill with ya girl…I’d love to hang out with you.
