Whether you have a date (or two) or you’re simply rollin’ solo here are some cool places to be for Valentine’s Day. (More to be added later)

ATLANTA

“Love in the City: Valentine’s Day Celebration at the High“. Maybe you can start your night off here. Tickets are $30 for couples/$18 for singles. There will be a live orchestra, salsa/tango lessons, food-tasting, glass art and jewelry trunk show and the great environment of the High Museum of Art. This event is from 6PM-10PM.

Universoul Circus. The circus with so much soul is back in the A.  The big top opens up at 7:30PM and tickets range from $10-$27.  It will be held at the Green Lot @ Turner Field. Call 646-263-8900 for more information.

The Get Down with DJs Kemit, Kai and Ramon RawSoul at Sugarhill (in the Underground). Doors open at 10PM. 21+

CHICAGO

The 3rd Annual FlosstraPROMus– A Benefit for the Chicago Indie Radio Project [CHIRP]. This event is a whopping $7, is 18+ and 100% of proceeds go to CHIRP. So, it’s like romantically giving back and I’m sure it’ll score you guys some points with the ladies. DJs include: Flosstradamus, DJ C and Murderbot. The event will be held at Abbey Pub.

You and your significant other LOVE basketball? Check out the Chicago Bulls v. Miami Heat @ United Center. Tickets range from $10- $140. Game starts at 7PM.

LOS ANGELES

The Sexy Love Tour f/ ?uestlove & Special Guests.  This sounds like a pretty dope Valentine’s date.  ?uestlove always puts on a good show and you never know what you’re gonna get with the “Special Guests”; it is during GRAMMYs week.  For $15 I’d say this event is definitely worth checking out.  The Sexy Love Tour will be held at The Highland (6801 Hollywood Blvd).  This event is 21+, doors open at 9PM.

Some Paintings: LA Weekly Biennial.  Art galleries are always a safe date.  This one will feature over 70 artists.  Catch this at Track 16 Gallery in Santa Monica (2525 Michigan Avenue #C1).  Gallery opens up at 11AM and ends 2/16.

THE BAY

Common @ Mezzanine in SF.  Chances are if your girl loves hip-hop, your girl really loves Common.  Tickets are kinda steep, $40 for general admission, $50 for VIP but I’m sure they are well worth it.  Show begins at 8PM. 21+.

Redline Valentine’s Bash. Hosted by Compression. Go explore something different and dance to Drum’n'Bass and dubstep all night.  This event will be held at Temple in SF (55 Natoma St). 21+ and it’s just $5.

Annual Love Fest.  A good friend Aya de Leon hosts this every year at La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley.  Spoken word performances, live performances, card games and dominoes.  Sounds like a fun date to me. $14 and 18+. Event begins at 7:30PM.
